Tabankulu secondary care facility is a charming double-storey thatch house with wooden floors and a warm, sunny ambience.  Tucked away on a large property in the Cape Fynbos, it has a sauna, swimming pool and is surrounded by a panoramic view of mountains and sea.  We accommodate 15 residents in comfortable semi-private bedrooms with en suite bathrooms

We offer a truly holistic programme to residents in a beautiful, safe and compassionate, mindful and healing environment.  Our integrated treatment approach recognises that humans exist as body, mind, emotions and spirit, functioning within a cultural and social context

Our treatment philosophy is based on the premise that only when the whole person is healed within his or her social and cultural context can lasting recovery begin.  Our integrated treatment is a bio-psycho-social-spiritual approach to treatment and recovery.  We integrate 12-step abstinence-based methodologies, mindfulness-based interventions, positive psychology and many other evidence-based therapeutic modalities.  The result is a comprehensive, balanced, and multi-disciplinary programme that initiates an awakening and healing in all dimensions of our client’s lives.

We are one of the few treatment centres in the world to offer this progressive level of treatment.

Our 4-12 week programme incorporates six dimensions of treatment and includes the following evidence based therapeutic practices and activities:

Our multi-disciplinary secondary staff team is comprised of expert addiction counsellors, a psychologist, a research psychologist, a neurotherapist, a clinical nutritionist, a registered dietician, a consultant psychiatrist, a medical doctor, a doctor of Chinese Medicine who facilitates acupuncture, a qualified Tai Chi, Yoga and Kung Fu instructor, Permaculture and organic gardening instructor, an Ikebana and bonsai facilitator trained in Japan, a full time chef and a surfing instructor.

Research conducted at Tabankulu secondary shows that 80% of all our residents who successfully completed our programme have reached a year of sobriety, thereby confirming the excellence and success of our innovative approach to treatment and recovery.
